Marcel Weyland

Marcel escaped war-time Poland in 1940 and arrived in Australia as a refugee in 1946. He is an architect with a law degree, and is an interpreter and renowned translator of Polish poetry.  Marcel has lectured and given readings extensively in London, Poland, Lithuania, New Zealand and throughout Australia, and has been invited to three successive International Congresses of Translators held in Krakow, Poland. He has been awarded the Order of Merit (Poland), the Medal  of the Order of Australia, the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit (Poland)  and the Gold Cross Gloria Artis (Poland). He and his artist wife, Phillipa Keane, have 5 children, 21 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
