Matti Friedman

Matti was born in Toronto and now lives in Jerusalem.  His first book, The Aleppo Codex, won the 2014 Sami Rohr Prize, America’s premier Jewish writing award. His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, and Tablet Magazine. Two essays about the media coverage of Israel after the 2014 Gaza war triggered intense international discussion.  Matti’s new book about the contentious withdrawal of the Israeli Army from Lebanon, Pumpkinflowers: A Soldier's Story, has just been published.
